Molecular identification of the occurrence of magnetotactic bacteria in fresh water sediments (Czech Republic)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) are of considerable interest because of their importance in the manufacture of various bioinspired materials. In order to find out the status of magnetotactic bacteria at three different sediment in Czech Republic, samples collected from both standing and running freshwaters were subjected to molecular diversity analysis by using 16S rRNA gene approach. Total community DNA from sediment sample was isolated and used for PCR, cloning and sequence analysis. Of the 24 analyzed sequences, six clones are closely related to Magnetobacterium sp. affiliated with the Nitrospira phylum which showed the dominance of Magnetobacterium phylotypes in the sample. This study will provide useful insight about the community structure of MTB in this particular geographical region. However more detailed and specific studies are warranted in order to properly assess the community structure of MTB's in fresh water sediments.

Magnetotactic bacteria at the geomagnetic equator.
Magnetotactic bacteria are present in fresh water and marine sediments of Fortaleza, Brazil, situated close to the geomagnetic equator. Both South-seeking and North-seeking bacteria are present in roughly equal numbers in the same samples. This observation is consistent with the hypothesis that the vertical component of the geomagnetic field selects the predominant polarity type among magnetota...
متن کاملA Preliminary Report on the Isolation and Identification of Magnetotactic bacteria from Iran Environment
Several species of Magnetotactic bacteria have been discovered recently. These bacteria synthesize intracellular magnetic nanoparticles in specific sizes and shapes and arrange them in chains. These particles called magnetosomes and can be used for drug-delivery, cell-targeting and hyperthermia. Magnetotactic bacteria navigate along the magnetic field; this process is known as ‘magnetotaxis’ wh...
متن کاملFirst Record of Fresh Water Gastropods and Sedimentary Facies of Nezam-Abad area, South-East Bam, Iran
Sediments of the Nezam-Abad area, south-east of Bam have been studied for the first time. Sedimentary facies are composed of thin-bedded clay, silt and fine grained sand interbedded with thin laminated limestone. Chemical analysis of X-Ray florescent indicates that more than 50% of sediments consist of silisium and aluminum oxide that can be used for reconstruction of environment. Ninety eight ...

This study was carried out to investigate the occurrence of potentially pathogenic species of vibrio in sea water and estuarine environments of the Caspian Sea in the Golestan province of Iran. A total of 127 water samples from coastal waters as well as from river and estuaries were collected and analyzed by culture, during April and September 2001. Following prompt centrifugation, the resusp...
متن کاملThe effects of crude oil on marine microbial communities in sediments from the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea: A microcosm experiment
Changes in the microbial community in response to catastrophic oil spills in marine and fresh water environments have been well documented. Molecular methods provide tools for analyzing the entire bacterial community, covering also those bacteria that have not been cultured in the laboratory. In this study, four different microcosms were set up containing sediments collected from the Persian Gu...
